Hi there, I'm Mollie... and I'm inviting you into our home, here at Arctic Hive.

In addition to two weekends and a few check-ins we'll spend together on Zoom, you and up to seven other women will travel to far Northern Alaska to experience what few people in the world will ever get to see (let alone, explore): The glory of Alaska’s arctic Brooks Range from our basecamp and the northernmost yoga school in America.

Teaching yoga is my life's work, and I'm honored to steward aspiring yoga teachers through their journey in 200-hour yoga teacher trainings. It's not a responsibility I take lightly, and our entire center here at Arctic Hive has been hand crafted to support our natural surroundings so that the yoga and meditation tradition/lineage is absorbed fully and completely.

Practicing yoga this close to Mother Nature is a dream come true... will you join us?

Dates:

This yoga training program exclusively for women has three parts, all of which are taught by E-RYT 500 and Yoga Hive/Arctic Hive founder, Mollie Busby alongside RYT-200 apprentices who are mentoring within the program. Upon completion of all four parts, you will be ready to register as an RYT-200 with Yoga Alliance through Yoga Hive Studios!

Part 1: Live online

Two online Zoom weekends of LIVE online instruction
(Although we do recommend participating in these, if you have prior commitments and need to miss a portion, reach out. Absences can usually be accommodated as we record all Zoom sessions)
  • Friday January 16th - Sunday January 18th
  • Friday May 15th - Sunday May 17th

Times both weekends are:
       Fridays, 2-6pm AK
       Saturday, 6am-4pm AK
       Sunday,  6am-2pm AK

Part 2: Pre-recorded

Self-paced video content
Throughout the course, you'll gain (lifetime) access to over 60 hours of engaging, pre-recorded and self-paced video content recorded exclusively for SHEWild. You must work through this material on your own time (we provide a recommended outline for pacing yourself!), and although we recommend getting through it before the final Zoom weekend, you can take up to 1 year with the homework assignments if needed!

Part 3: Live in the Arctic

  • April 7th: You book your flight to Fairbanks Airport and lodging for that night (NOT included in tuition)
  • April 8th: Travel day from Fairbanks to the Arctic (included in tuition)
  • April 8th-15th: Arctic Hive SHEWild Immersion (included in tuition). You will have lodging and meals provided from lunch on the travel day through lunch on the travel day back to Fairbanks.
  • April 15th: Travel day from the Arctic back to Fairbanks (included in tuition)
  • April 16th: You book your flight home from Fairbanks Airport (NOT included in tuition). Most people book red eye flights out of Fairbanks. Please feel free to run your flight times by us BEFORE booking. Triple check the dates -- red eye bookings can be tricky!

Travel seven hours away from the nearest grocery store, cross the arctic circle, and travel 63 more miles north to the village of Wiseman. There, you’ll get the chance to see the Northern Lights, in an area deemed as having some of the best northern light displays in the world — during one of the most active times of the year for the aurora!

Location:

  • Arctic Hive is located in Wiseman, Alaska
  • Airport to fly into is Fairbanks International Airport (Alaska Airlines is typically the best! We don't recommend any other airlines beyond Alaska and Delta)
  • From there, we will transport you to Wiseman on the Dalton Highway.

Who is this experience for?

You! Yes, you. If you found your way here, if you identify as a woman, and you're still reading this page... we're talking to you, dear friend.

Women of all ages who feel the call for an epic adventure and deep dive into the yogic tradition are welcome to join this one-of-a-kind 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Join us if you are interested in the time-tested spiritual map that yoga outlined thousands of years ago. Or if you want to know more about the physical and mental healing that yoga can produce. Or if you want to see a part of the world that is so quiet, so untouched by civilization, so powerful to feel with your own eyes and ears. Beginners and experts are welcome — although you must be comfortable hiking for 2-4 miles in a day on uneven and potentially hilly terrain. You do not need to have a desire to teach yoga upon concluding this training... many people take teacher trainings just for the self study aspect, and diving deeper into your personal practice.

All we ask of every trainee is to come as you are, with an open mind and a willing spirit!

But don't take our word for it. Here is what students are saying about our YTT programs at Yoga Hive...

I was immediately drawn to the SHEWild Yoga Training being off grid in Alaska and the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. I loved all the experiences in Alaska — hiking, Wiseman tour, walks to the river, and I found all the content so engaging and interesting. It was far more robust of a program than I anticipated. Mollie: You are an incredible teacher and communicator. Your passion comes through in every area of this training, and the manual — it’s amazing! Such a wonderful resource. I would absolutely recommend this training. It’s an incredible experience whether someone is looking to teach yoga or not. Come in with an open mind, ready to learn, and you can’t go wrong!

— Meg

The Yoga Hive YTT has truly changed my life. I could not have imagined how much I would evolve during the training. I have learned to love myself again and to be grateful for my life. I also, now, respond from a still center, instead of reacting, when stressful situations occur in my life. I am excited to live each day and to continue to learn and grow and see where this journey takes me. I am eternally grateful for going through this experience.
        — Melissa

I think my biggest hesitation at first with Yoga Hive's YTT was my age (I was 58 when I signed up). Also, I really didn't think I wanted to teach yoga, so what would be the point? But then life happened in a big way, and when I read the outline for the training, I saw that it was about much more than learning how to sequence (teach) a class, and I knew it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. I think the biggest change I've noticed in my life since completing the training (changes that began even before the training, from reading the required texts) has been learning about what makes me, me. Good and bad. And giving me tools to deal with the stressors of life. And of course, developing a daily devotional practice.

What type of yoga do we learn?

Our program is inspired by the Kriya Yoga lineage of the Himalayas, vinyasa styles of yoga, and Energy Medicine Yoga. Trainees will learn how to sequence their own classes utilizing a creative combination of these elements, at their own pace.

Although no one is expected to teach yoga post-graduation, we do put an emphasis on practice teaching so that the material becomes ingrained in each trainee.  We will experience many different styles, transitions and postures, and experiment with sequencing a gentle yoga class (slow pace), a Hatha Flow (medium pace), and a Vinyasa Flow (faster pace), and whether you intend to teach upon the conclusion of the program or you're taking it for professional development, rest assured you will feel confident with sequencing and teaching many different ability levels!

By the end of the training, you will have first-hand experience teaching a full yoga class, online using Zoom! This is the BEST way to culminate your training, and you'll also be learning a valuable skill to teach yoga online in the future, if you want to serve the world in this way!

Mollie Busby

E-RYT 500 and founder/owner of Yoga Hive and Arctic Hive
Picture
She is a driven entrepreneur, writer, dog musher, backcountry skier with the spirit of a summer camp counselor and a love of wild places. Mollie and her husband Sean own and operate their wilderness retreat center nestled 63 miles north of the Arctic Circle called Arctic Hive. The pair crafted the entire facility with their own hands, and lives there in the Brooks Range year-round to host small groups of all kinds and mush with their pack of sled dogs.

In 2010, Mollie and Sean founded Riding On Insulin, which hosts action sports camps for kids with type 1 diabetes. Mollie ran the nonprofit as Executive Director for 7 years, until Sean took the helm in 2017. Although she still works for the organization on a part-time basis hosting a few camps and managing the operations, Mollie shifted much of her focus to her work and studies in yoga, including founding four yoga studios called Yoga Hive. Her Montana and Wisconsin branches have since been sold, and continue thriving today. Yoga Hive is known for its inviting vibe, friendly instructors, and willingness to show anyone that yoga is for everybody and every body. Today, Mollie teaches classes over Zoom and hosts both in-person and online yoga teacher trainings and courses from her Yoga Hive studio in the arctic — a 24-foot geodesic dome surrounded by a black spruce forest with expansive views of the Brooks Mountain Range.

Hailing originally from Wisconsin, Mollie brings to her classes a warm, midwestern vibe mixed with a wide range of yoga training. Although her training was rooted in a vinyasa/power yoga style, Mollie now takes a softer, feminine approach featuring dynamic breathwork, intention woven throughout the journey, feel-good movements, and Tantric kriya from her extensive studies in the foothills of India’s Himalayas. She infuses her unique brand of magic into every class she guides, alongside her love of teaching the basics to anyone willing to learn. Accommodations:

Here at Arctic Hive, we have three cabins to keep you cozy warm during your stay with us — there are mountain views in every direction, and plenty of windows to see the wild landscape and the northern lights! Each cabin will be home to 2-3 attendees in twin or double beds (depending on the cabin). All cabins are off-grid, heated with Swedish Nordic oil stoves that keep the space warm and cozy , with solar/battery powered lighting, and old fashioned kerosene lamps. There is no cell phone reception from the cabins — although we do have access to service for emergencies.
Picture

We will provide nightly opportunities to charge minimal devices via generator or solar power, depending on the amount of sun we're receiving (such as your phone if you use it as a camera). It wouldn't be wise to bring larger electronics like computers, as they draw so much power from the small battery banks.
Picture
The cabins are located just a short walk up the hill from our Wilderness Lodge, a 20-foot diameter Insulated Igloo. There is one composting outhouse that's cleaned and attended to daily — along with a few designated "facility trees" in the woods. If you're inexperienced with either of these methods, our team will assure you're up to speed upon arrival!

The Igloo is where we'll eat and gather and then down the trail a little further, you'll find the Yoga Hive. That's where we'll practice yoga daily, and all props, including meditation chairs will be provided for you throughout the training.
